Pearl Harbor Historic Tour

Visiting Pearl Harbor Historic site was my first place of site seeing, I had planned for the family. I would highly recommend to booking the tour online, you get to book visit to all four sites. I used Trip advisor to book the trip, but you could directly from the website at http://www.bowfin.org/plan-your-visit

Since it was our very first day in Honolulu we did not leave super early to see this place, had to have a good breakfast at restaurant next door to Prince Waikiki. We reached the Pearl Harbor site only by 11:30 am.

Since, I had purchased the ticket online, I had to just go register my ticket at the counter and they helped with planning the visit. There are 4 places to see with in the museum. The people at the ticket counter mentioned that there would not be much time to see all 4 places the same day, because 2 of the museum, which is Battleship Missouri memorial and Pacific Aviation museum was not in the same place as Arizona Memorial and the USS Bowfin Submarine.

So we agreed to see two museum the same day and for an additional $10 per person, they said you could see the other two museum the next day. It was a good plan and so we agreed for it.

 

The first place we visited was Water front Memorial. The day was such a Blue Sky day and was perfect to take beautiful pictures.

 

The Regulus I, was a nuclear armed turbo jet powered cruise missile used by the U.S. Navy during the Cold War.

We got to go into and see the inside of the USS Bowfin submarine and it was cool experience.

The next after the submarine we saw as the USS Arizona Memorial. When we were going through the museum, . we could feel the presence of the people who had died on Dec 7 1941. You could feel the sadness and the calm and stillness in the air.

The USS Arizona Memorial, at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, marks the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors and Marines killed on USS Arizona (BB-39) during the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 and commemorates the events of that day.

They have a shrine with all the names of the people who died on Dec 7 1941 on the USS Arizona.

 

They even have oil slick visible on water surfaces from the sunken ship. I will cover the Battle Ship Missouri Memorial and the Pacific Aviation Museum in the next post.
