Thoor dhal( lentil) – 1 cup
Sambhar powder -2 1/2 tablespoon
Salt
Oil to sauté
Mustards – 1/2 tea spoon
Red Dry chilly-2
Step-1
Gather all the vegetables you want to put in your sambhar, in my case, you see the vegetables I have added.
This picture shows you cut Radish and Avarkkalu Beans.
This picture has cut onions and curry leaves.
Step-2
Take a pan and add some oil. When oil starts to heat add mustard and Red dry chilly. When mustard starts to sizzle, add onion and curry leaves and sauté for a little bit and then add all the other vegetables into the pan.
Continue to sauté the vegetables until they are cooked well.
Step-3
Take one cup of lentil and pressure cook them or microwave cook them and keep them as side to cool. If you want to know how to cook the lenthil check my Rasam post
Step-4
Take 1 1/2 tablespoon Tamarind paste and dilute it in about 1 1/2 cups of water.
Step-5
Add the sauté vegetable in a deep bottom pan and add the tamarind paste and allow it start boiling.
Step-6
When the above ingredients starts to boil , you can add sambhar powder about 2 to 2 1/2 teaspoon into the boiling liquid and start mixing well otherwise the powder will not mix well later.
Step-7
You have to purée the cooled lenthil using a blender or bullet and set it aside
Step-8
Add the lenthil after completing step 6 into the pan and mix well. Add salt to taste and fresh cilantro to garnish. Enjoy it with Rice and one of the vegetables I have mentioned in my previous post.
