Pressure Cook or Boil Toor Dhal ( Lentil) – 1 cup with about 2 cups of water and set aside to cool.

Step-5

Take 1 cup of white Rice. I have used Basamathi Rice. You can either pressure cook it along with the Lentil or cook rice using your electric Rice cooker.

Step-8

Take a medium size pan and heat some Sesame oil and add the ingredients from Step 7. Allow the mustard to splatter little bit. Then add cashew which you set aside in Step 6.

Step-9

Once the cashew turns light brown, you can add the cut Onions into the pan. Sauté the onions.

Step-10

Microwave the cut Beans and Green Bell pepper. When the onions are cooked add the cooked vegetables . You can add any type of vegetable which you want to use. You could check  Sambhar Recipe  from my previous post.

Step-11

After the vegetables are cooked, you can add 2 tablespoons of Tamarind paste in 1 1/2 cups of water and allow them to boil. You have Cooked Lentil in Step 4, make sure you mash the lentils or use a blender and add some water and blend them well.

Step-12

You can use 3 tablespoons of Sambhar Powder into the mixture. Depending on how spicy you want the rice to be you could increase or decrease Sambhar powder. After adding the Sambhar powder and allowing the mixture to boil for sometime, then pour the mashed lentil which you have set aside on step 11. Make sure to add salt in the gravy and also taste the curry before you add the rice.

Step-13

After having the sambhar made, you should  taste for Spicy and salt levels, go ahead and add the cooked white Rice and mix well until all the moisture evaporates and the flavor blends with the Rice.

Step-14

Severe this hot with Ghee and with a nice Potato Curry or a nice Spicy Dhal Vada. What ever you are in mood for. You can even eat this with just nice Crispy Potato Chips.
