Cooking Post 25-Okra Fry

Okra Fry


Fresh Okra – 1 pound

Besan flour – 4 tablespoons

Red chilly powder- 1/2 tablespoon

Turmeric powder- 1/4 tablespoon

Mustard seeds- 1 teaspoon

Channa dhal- 1 teaspoon

Urda dhal- 1 teaspoon

Olive oil



First clean the Okra by washing them well and drying them out on a kitchen towel. Make sure you dry the okra with a towel by wiping each okra individually so when you cut them you don’t encounter slimy ness from the okra. Cut the okra like in the picture and set them aside in a dry bowl to cook.


Take a medium Pan and pour Olive Oil and add Mustard seeds, channa dhal and urda dhal. When oil heats up the ingredients you have put in would start to roast . Work with Medium

Flame always.


Once the oil and ingredients are ready add the cut Okra and sauté the okra without putting any lid on the pan. If you add the lid on the pan the steam created while cooking will make the okra sweat and slimy ness would start , which will not give you a dry Okra fry.


While you are sauteing the Okra. On a separate bowl take the ingredients shown in the picture and set them aside.

Items in the picture are

Besan flour- 4 Tablespoons

Red chilly powder- 1/2 tablespoon

Turmeric Powder- 1/4 tablespoon

Salt- quantity required for 1 pound Okra


Once the Okra is cooked you can add the ingredients from Step-4 into the Okra. Make sure to add some additional oil so all the ingredients can start to stick to all the Okra and not in one place. Keep the stove on medium flame so the okra would start to crisp.


Once the Okra is crisp enough, enjoy them hot with what ever you like to have it.
